New Year celebration with Clothes Distribution by DIYA Pune

It was a chilled morning, the Sun was under the clouds and the feeling of giving and sharing at cloud 9 among DIYA (Divine India Youth Association) Pune team members when we started from our respective places for New Year celebration. The plan was to celebrate by giving some pleasure to those who are usually left without it, especially on such pleasant occasions. We were heading towards Pune Railway station for Clothes distribution to Needy people.

We reached the destination only to see what was expected.

Orphanage Visit @ Teachers' Day by DIYA Pune

It was a touching day. The children, who have only seen their guardians as their Parents and Teachers both, had DIYA Pune to share their divine love with. We paid yet another visit to the orphanage “Sanmati Baal Niketan” (Cared by Sindhu Tai Sapkaal ‘Mai’), on 5th September, 2010 “Teachers’ Day”. Sindhu Tai was also present during our visit there. We shared love with children, had food with them and taught them few good things.

The visit also included Birthday Celebration of DIYA Pune’s youngest volunteer (9 Years old). We celebrated the birthday with various poems and songs sung by children there. We also distributed clothes, sweets and other gifts to them. At last, we had a memorable time with all the children. The love and affection among us was at its peak during our complete stay at the orphanage. We are compelled to visit them again very soon.

Pune, 13 June 2010 (Sunday), As the city recieved first monsoon of the season, DIYA Pune geared up for it's first Tree Plantation activity. Energised youth members of DIYA roamed around the city to identify places where plantation can be done. They found several places and decided to kick-off this activity from a temple at tukai tekdi in fursungi(Hadapsar) area. DIYA members reached the venue today morning early with tools and saplings, and planted 70 odd trees of peepal, bargad, neem etc. in 6 hours Local management provided good support in this noble activity and promished that they will take care of all the needs of these plants in future. They sincerely appreciated the effort put by DIYA team.

Republic Day Celebration in Pune - Jan 26, 2010

On occasion of Republic Day, DIYA Pune has visited an orphanage - Sanmati Bal Niketan, one of many orphanages of famous social worker Sindhutai Sapkal (also known as 'Mai') and distributed sweets and cloths to them.

We had a great time as we shared love with them. Children felt very happy and really enjoyed with us. We have contacted many private and govt. office associates (Congnizent, NIV, Advinus, Brihans etc.) for the cloths and they donated generously. We still have a good collection of cloths and want to continue this activity at other orphanages also.

On a separate note, DIYA Pune is also involved in river cleaning activity, in which members of DIYA along with Indryani Seva Sangh and GPYG take part in Indrayani river cleaning activity. Indrayani river is one of the most important rivers in Maharashtra due to its religious and cultural importance as it is on the bank of Alandi (birth place of Saint Dnyeshwar). Chancellor of DSVV and Head of AWGP, Hon. Dr. Pranav pandya in his recent trip to pune has promised to give full support for cleaning of rivers in maharashtra.
